Meet the Managing Director
It was high in the mountains of the Ganesh Himal Range was Pradeep Tamang of Cozy Guide Nepal was born and raised. He calls home the tiny little village of Shertung. It’s a beautiful village with a most incredible view of the five peaks of the Ganesh Himal Mountains. The village itself is situated on a high place that overlooks the valley below.
Shertung consists of a small school, a few little shops and a medical outpost. The village itself is a two day walk to the nearest place where you can get a local bus. There are no roads up here. The village has never had electricity; whatever light they have comes from candles or maybe a solar powered system.
It is these mountains in Nepal that has produced some of the finest trekking companies, guides and porters. These men and women from Dhading District have instilled in them a deep pride for the places from whence they came, and are deeply tied to the land with deep family roots.
Pradeep Tamang may have left his village for Kathmandu, but he never left those mountains in his heart. Every chance Pradeep gets, he returns to his home village to see family and friends and to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Pradeep was born in 1984 and started out as a porter at the age of 15. He quickly became one of the most respected trekking guides in Nepal, making treks into much of the high mountain country.
Pradeep is regional vice president of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) for the Ganesh Himal Chapter and is an executive member of the Ganesh Himal Tourism Development Committee. He holds membership in Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and is a member of Nepal Australian Friendship Association where he serves as project manager for building a new school in his home village.
Pradeep is married to his wife Pratichya and they have three children: two sons Prajawal and Prajina and one daughter Prijam.
Pradeep Tamang’s great love for his home area and Nepal makes him a natural for operating Cozy Guide Nepal. His intimate knowledge of the mountains along with his love for the land makes him the right person and his company the right company to serve you on your visit to Nepal.
